Hanakapi'ai Falls

This is 12 x 16 colored pencil on Pastelbord.  This is a beautiful waterfall on the island of Kauai. After a rigorous couple of miles of hiking we were rewarded with a beautiful treasure.  The cool waters were very refreshing to get us ready hike back.

Midnight in Waipoli

This is a fun drawing I did to get back into colored pencil.  This is 8 x 10 Prismas on Pastelbord

Island Girl

This is a graphite sketch on toned paper.  The size is 8" x 10".  My intention was to capture the rare natural beauty of the people of islands.  This is the kind of beauty that made the early sailors jump ship to stay in the islands.

Na Pali Coast, Kauai

This is a painting of the Na Pali Coastline on the island of Kauai. This view is possible from the Hanakapi'ai Trail hike.  It is one on my favorite hikes. This painting is 11x14 acrylic on canvas.

Salt Pond Beach Sunset

This is a sunset view of the Salt Pond Beach on the island of Kauai, Hawaii.  On the horizon is the "forbidden" island of Ni'ihau.  This is 11 x 14 acrylic on canvas.

Grandma Sciotha

This is a sketch I did of my Great Great Grandmother Sciotha Ellen Clark McKinney.  She was also an artist.  I have a painting that she finished in March of 1915.  It is a family treasure and to me it is priceless. As a young boy I always remember seeing her painting hanging in our house and I always thought it was cool.  This sketch is graphite on toned tan paper.

Here she is sitting at her easel with the painting almost complete.

This is the full color painting.  It is of the 3 Sisters Mountains near Bend, Oregon.
